Moscow Blue Devils

 

Tryouts are typically held in August or September each year

 

What are the expectations if you make the team:
 

  • SR LEGION TEAM FEES: $900 TOTAL.  JR LEGION TEAM FEES: $750 TOTAL.  Fees are used for team insurance, league registration fees, umpires, out-of-town game transportation (gas, insurance, registration, and maintenance of the team bus), player and coach hotel expenses, team equipment, uniforms, tournament fees, coach stipends, and field maintenance supplies.  Legion players are encouraged to seek business sponsorships from local community businesses. Here is a SAMPLE sponsor letter.  Player fees make up approximately half of the cost of the program.  The other funds come from team and American Legion Post #6 fundraising activities. Players fees are due in full by June 30th. 
     

  • FUNDRAISING: Players and families are expected to participate in season fundraising efforts. Fundraising makes up approximately half of the cost of the program.  The other funds come from player fees.

  • VOLUNTEERING: The Blue Devil program is supported by American Legion Post #6, coaches, and volunteers. It is expected that each player's family will volunteer for a few of the many volunteer opportunities available throughout the season. This program is a family program, so we encourage to you volunteer as often as possible or even enhance the program with other ideas.

  • COMMITMENT FORM AND DEPOSIT: required by October 1st to ensure each player's commitment to the other Blue Devil players for the upcoming season. A $200 non-refundable deposit towards their player fees is required to assist in pre-season costs such as team insurance, league registration fees, maintenance of the team bus, tournament registration fees, and field maintenance. It is expected that a player’s COMMITMENT to practice and games is his number one commitment. The Moscow Blue Devils schedule begins mid-May and concludes the beginning of August depending on District and State tournament outcomes.  Sr. Legion players can expect to play 40-45 games between league games and tournaments.  Jr Legion # of games is TBD.
     

  • REGISTRATION FORM: required prior to player participation and are kept in the team book during the season.
     

  • DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY NOTIFICATION FORM: required prior to player participation and are kept in the team book during the season.
     

  • ONE PROOF OF AGE DOCUMENT: required prior to player participation and are kept in the Moscow Blue Devils book during the season.
       - Birth Certificate
       - Federal Real ID state issued ID
       - Passport
       - Other options may be allowed. Check with the team administrator for allowability.

     

REQUIRED PRIOR TO THE FIRST GAME IS A COMPLETE REGISTRATION FORM; A SIGNED DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY NOTIFICATION FORM; AND AN ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE.  PLAYERS THAT HAVE NOT FULFILLED THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE UNTIL COMPLETE OR OTHER ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE.

 

  • SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE: No player will be turned away for their inability to pay their player flees. American Legion Post #6 has scholarships available for those that are in financial need. If you have this need reach out to the Head Coach. 
     

  • UNIFORMS: Every player will receive team uniforms including a cap, a belt, and game jerseys.  Players will need to supply a pair of white pants, and socks.  Players need to supply all other equipment such as mitts, cleats, batting gloves, bats etc. Players will get to keep the cap but will need to return the belt, and jerseys at the end of the season.
     

  • PLAYER/PARENT MEETING: The registration form, drug and alcohol policy notification form, and an original birth certificate is expected prior to first practice and is required  prior to the first game. Additional team information will also be shared at this meeting by the coaching staff and others.
