Success Isn't Given

It's EARNED

with blood, sweat, and the occasional tear

The best team isn't the team with the best players, but the team that plays best together
Coaching Philosophy

To teach, coach, and nurture players in the game of baseball. We believe in developing each and every player's talent to the best of our ability. Each and every player brings talents to the team. It is our goal to find out what those talents are and how to best utilize those talents for the team to be the most successful. We teach fundamental baseball, and playing the game the "right way". If we do that, the wins will come. Baseball is a team sport, as a team, we are going into battle together. We have each other's backs, and we will battle with, and for, each other.

Give It All You Got
Players and coaches should focus on giving it all they’ve got. We will focus on teaching as much as we can and focus on getting every player to improve as much as possible. We will focus on getting players ready for competition and will instill a desire to compete.

Emphasize Improvement

Player improvement, not perfection, is our goal. We will focus on us improving as a team by working on improving each player. This may require different approaches for different players. We will provide opportunities for players to be challenged and grow as a skilled player.

Stay Positive

Players need patient, supportive coaches that can teach and motivate in a positive way. We will take the time to work with players in a positive corrective manner. Players are to remain positive with their teammates and coaches at all times.

Sportsmanship

Coaches will model good sportsmanship. Players will also be expected to interact  with the competition, teammates, officials, and others in a respectful manner.

Competing As A Team

We will have the will and determination to remain competitive no matter the score or individual struggles. Be willing to do what it takes for the team to be successful and to sacrifice to achieve team success.

Discipline

We will establish and communicate coaches expectations early. The coaching staff has developed team rules. The expectations and consequences will be communicated clearly to the players. We will ensure appropriate consequences are followed through if the rules are broken.

Practices

Once the season begins we plan on playing baseball up to 6 times each week (games+practices). We will create an environment that is structured but varied to keep players engaged. We will spend most of practice doing drills in small groups, when possible. Skills and strategies will be explained with demonstration. We will incorporate competition into practices when possible. Players should come to practice ready to fully participate and compete.

Playing Time

Players only get better with playing time. We are committed to giving as much playing time to each player while continuing to keep the team competitive. Playing time will be based on effort shown in practice, team needs, and what player would be the most successful in a specific situation. The goal is to develop each and every player, but it also is important to make sure that players are put into situations that they will have an opportunity to be successful.

Parent Communication

A pre-season parent meeting will be scheduled to share our coaching philosophy and to give an opportunity for parents to ask questions. Parents are encouraged to support the Blue Devil players and coaching staff. If a player has a concern they should speak with the coaching staff directly. We want to encourage these young men to handle their own problem solving. If a parent-coach meeting is deemed necessary parents can arrange for a meeting with the coaching staff. Please refer to the Communication Guide for additional information.
